MY TAKE ON C o W P:
A love-story which amuses you with its simple twists. A perfect light read with a mix of snarky one-liners, cute moments and comical situations. A search for true love…
The story revolves around Veronica, an event manager who is nursing her broken heart. It is about events occurring in her life; her hesitation to start afresh in her love life; her confusion in her emotions. When Veronica’s rich ex-boyfriend offers her to organize his wedding with his French fiancé; Veronica accepts it. With the guidance from her best friend Chase, she keeps a dam over the feelings evoked by seeing her ex. But, it looks as if the fate had other plans for her… the precarious situation gets messier when Levi turns up.
Somehow, I wasn’t very impressed with the characters drawn by the author. They were all with predictable personalities – handsome / beautiful, talented, heart-throbs, but misunderstood by each other.
The only character which justifies her role was Chase. A total awesome BFF who is reliable and sensible; smart and clear-headed.
Veronica confused me. Her personality had lots of contradictions – As such she is a professional running a successful business, whose job profile is all about making decisions and choosing the best… but when it comes to decisions and choices of her life – I find her completely lost. As I read the book, this clash of traits kept on nagging me.
The description of the facets of event management was really good. The author has a skill in describing places as well as the particulars, interestingly.
The pace of the story was adequate.
Few situations described were really hilarious with testy dialogues – brought a smile on one’s face.
I couldn’t feel that spark between the male and female protagonists. The emotions building inside them, for each other, lacked depth. There were very few instances of the attraction ascending from both the sides.
Moreover, the narration being done from only one person’s point of view didn’t allow me to connect with the other lead character.
The circumstances appearing were easy to foretell. Generally, in a romance novel, the outline of the story is almost the same. So, the uniqueness lies in the treatment of the story. All I can say is… There was the scope of doing it.
