Reading books is a delight to me but reading Fantasy Book-series is just pure bliss. It is because I can prolong to enjoy the beautiful fantasy world of those books and revel in the events and plot twists within.

2019 was a year which brought great books in this genre from authors – old and new. As this year comes to a wrap, I bring forth Top 7 Fantasy Book-Series which ended this year.

7 Fantasy Book-Series Which Ended This Year

The Winternight Trilogy

The first month of 2019 brought along the last book in this trilogy which had won over the hearts of many. The story of Vasya and Morozko with the background of Russian Folklore was a treat to the readers. This debut trilogy by Katherine Arden presented the Russian Winter like no other. The striking mix of folklore, fantasy and history, is one of the best fantasy read of this year.

Book of the Ancestor

Mark Lawrence’s Book of Ancestor Series took the readers of fantasy by storm. The Fantasy Book-Series was such a freaking read from its very first instalment. The adjectives fell short when the reviewers wrote about the books of this series. Finally, with the third instalment of Holy Sister published in April 2019, this bewitching series ended.

This magical and one of the most amazing series – Caraval wrapped up in May 2019 with the release of Finale. From the moment I had read its first book Caraval, I was in love with its story and the elements weaved in it. The author Stephanie Garber had weaved such a tale of brilliance which had magic and mystery with an underlying hint of darkness. The imagery in this series is so vivid and vibrant that it is hard not to get involved in it. Highly recommended Fantasy Book-Series.

The Nevernight Chronicle

Sometimes we come across things which we both love and hate. Nevernight is a very good example of it. The Chronicle series written by Jay Kristoff has always been in the news in the Book-World whenever one of the new instalments was released.

The reaction towards this series has been such a mix. Readers have loved it, hated it, revelled in the story, ranted about it. But all in all, the Nevernight Chronicles gripped the readers till its last book. If you are a fan of Dark Fantasy, Nevernight is definitely the series you need to look out for.

Three Dark Crowns

A Young Adult Series by Kendare Blake came to its fantastic closure this year. The series began with the story of three 16-year-old sisters who were candidates for becoming the queen in future. Also, with the following books, readers were kept on the edge with all the adventures and twists occurring in the life of these sisters.

To be honest, I was not hooked up into the book from the beginning. Although the plot was unique, the pace of the story didn’t meet my expectations. It was only towards the end of the first book that my curiosity took the front seat. The end was such a cliffhanger that I had to go for the next book and then… there was no turning back.

Now the thing about this series is that it hasn’t been given as much love as it deserves to have. I myself had come across this book accidentally but was blown away with the creativity of the author. Furthermore, I am yet to see such a magnificent magical concept which was displayed in this book. The universe in this series is built on powers of light. In simplest of terms, the different frequencies of light can be used for various purposes in this book and the whole plot is based on the events around it.

The series began in 2010 and ended a decade later this year. It is a great book for fantasy lovers who are always on the lookout for something unique.

The Folk of Air

Holly Black gave a stupendous gift for her readers this year. Actually to bring out two instalments in the same year is a feat in itself but what a pleasant surprise it was for us. This fantasy series was a hit from the word Go.

Anyone who is looking out for some unusual stories in Fantasy Book-Series section can definitely delve into these. I am currently on the third and final instalment of this series and am totally loving it.

Have you read any of these Fantasy Book-series? Can you recommend any other Book-series which concluded this year? Do write their names in the comment sections below.

Until then

Fantasy is not typically my genre, but Lightbringer sounds very interesting due to its focus on light as a power. I may need to check this series oit.

Wow that’s an interesting post and I feel bad that I haven’t read any of them so it calls that I can now read the complete series. I’m not much of a fantasy reader but it’s interesting to know all these series ended in 2019 only.
